Your One-Stop Solution for All Your Landscaping Needs

During 20+ year in the industry, I couldn’t be happier with the product and service provided by J. and the entire team at Green Horizons as we embark in a major renovation heading into the ‘24 United States Women’s Open. The project started two years ago as we began converting our walk paths and intermediate cuts around greens to HGT maintained at 3/4 of inch. The establishment has received rave reviews not only from my membership but from the USGA on aesthetics and playability. This past winter we began the second phase with a bunker and tee renovation in which we are using GH Tall Fescue for the surrounds. Again, in 20+ years I couldn’t be more impressed with the density, spring green up and weed free turf. I’m excited on a continued growing relationship with Green Horizons as we soon take the national stage showcasing our combined talents.

GRASS FOR SPORTS & ATHLETIC FIELDS

Not all grass is created equal! When you're looking for sod to cover a sports field, you'll want to choose grass that is strong, highly tolerant to traffic, disease resistant, and green in the early spring when outdoor sports are underway.

Here are Green Horizons Turf Farm, we carry a number of sod options that are ideal for athletic fields, including HGT Kentucky Bluegrass, 365SS Kentucky Bluegrass and Top of the Valley Tall Fescue. You can learn more about these grass varieties below.

Why Choose Natural Grass for Sports Fields

While some athletic facilities choose to invest in artificial turf, there are numerous advantages to choosing live grass for sports fields. Natural grass won't overheat like artificial turf, providing a cooler playing surface for athletes even on the sunniest days. Some studies have shown that natural grass may be the safer choice for athletes, as artificial turf has also been shown to contribute to higher rates of injury. Additionally, sod is an all natural, environmentally-friendly product, while turf is difficult to reuse or recycle when it reaches the end of its useful life, and contains chemicals and fragments that cause microplastic pollution.

While each sports facility should choose their field coverage based on their needs and values, we think natural, locally-grown sod is the superior choice!
